About us
Women and Youth Empowerment
WAY Empowerment is a volunteer-run NGO, started from our founder’s own childhood experience of poverty. We work in marginalised communities in Kenya so that women and young people can build better lives on their own terms.
Our belief
We believe education and humanity are the most powerful tools for helping people build their own way out of poverty.
Every human being deserves to have basic needs for daily life met, and to be free from poverty.
Our mission
Women
Give women the tools to work their way out of poverty, contribute to economic growth and strengthen their communities.
Youth
Use sport as a development tool so young people gain the skills to avoid early pregnancy and drugs, finish their education and live a meaningful life.
Our vision
A world without poverty, where women and youth live in a safe, sustainable environment with equal economic opportunities, equal rights to natural resources, education and health care. We believe that every human possesses tools to provide a better life for themselves, families, and the society they live in.
How we work
We build solutions that last, through farming, entrepreneurship, self-help groups, sports tournaments and health education. We are all volunteers.
Our team
Our international team of volunteers works on projects that bring economic stability for women and sports programmes for youth.
Partners
Our projects are possible because of our partners:
- CISU (Civilsamfund i Udvikling, Aarhus) funds our projects.
- NEPHAK is our local partner in Nairobi.
- AGF (Aarhus) supports our youth football.
- Tujipange Community Empowerment Project is our local partner in Kakamega.
